It was Crazy Hair Day!  For $1 that will go to support LLS, we came in with crazy hair today!

We had an amazing field trip on Monday to the GVSU Water Resources Institute in Muskegon.  In the classroom we learned about invasive species and made out own plankton our of scraps to try to see if it would float.  On board the boat, the WG Jackson, we were aquatic scientists on Muskegon Lake.  We were collecting water samples and testing for PH level, conductivity, turbidity, and more!

This week we learned to look for some “author tricks” while reading.  Recognizing craft in text is an important skill for 4th graders. We discussed and found examples of flashbacks, foreshadowing, and personification.

In writing we worked on our introductions and the conclusions to our literary essays.

In math we began our unit on geometry by reviewing lines, points, line segments, and angles. We are measuring angles with protractors and figuring out problems with angles.  Next week we will have a few more lessons and then the tests.

In social studies we talked about positive and negative incentives that are used in the world as well as earnings/revenue/expenses, and profit.  We are getting ready for Market Day!

Here are our commercials for our products on Market Day! Everyone did a great job! Enjoy!
